Migrations Adaptations Unintended Consequences – Episode 11

What a difference a month, or at least an election, makes. But, as usual, this episode is not political. It is, however, about the consequences of politics. As one person posted, “The debates are over. Now is the time to act.” We’ve traded one set of uncertainties (who will win) for sets of uncertainties (what happens next at every level from global to personal). For every set of consequences, there are the unintended ones, the unintended consequences. That’s what we talked about.

Friends are deciding to travel, temporarily or permanently. Businesses that enable such moves are busy. Certain stocks rose, and others fell, which is normal and different. Defense stocks may not move the same way healthcare stocks move.

It is at times like this that connections made years ago provide opportunities and outlets. Those based on business and those based on friendship are now more valuable. And, it is never too late to build new ones.

Even without changing addresses, we talked about the value of existing friendships. Listen, because people need to express themselves. Speak up, because holding it in can be unhealthy. Counselors are standing by (though probably sitting) to listen to – well – anything almost. They’ve trained for this stuff.

Two things to be sure of: The unintended consequences may be the most surprising. And. Adapt because whatever comes next will be different than everything that came before.

And, of course, you’re also welcome to listen to Steve’s story about meeting a queen with a throne and subjects. Stay to the end for that.
