12. Twelve episodes so far. Steve and I made it through enough of this year, 2024, to let us celebrate. Of course, we celebrate by making another episode. Thanks for listening.
So, what did we talk about? We had plans (but never a script), said hello, started talking, and never got around to our original idea. That level of redirection might be a fine template for what we’re about to live through in 2025.
Our personal lives have had issues with mega-corporations and the way companies are treating customers as if they are employees, but we kept coming back to the consequences of the recent election. Resiliency, adaptability, reality, and pragmatism drifted into our conversation about as subtly as a hurricane spins off cloud banks.
Ideologies and commentaries have filled the media for years, but changes in things like Social Security may drive millions to need, not just want but need, creative solutions to income and assets.
Conversations have shifted from, “Gee, wouldn’t it be nice to live in Italy?” to “What are those asset, income, and residency requirements?” At the same time, if migrant farm workers are forced to cross a border, will maintaining the food supply shift jobs to robots?
Is the US, the United States of America, truly united, or is it now untied? What does that mean for Canada and Mexico? How about the irony of migrant workers being forced to reverse their migration because of government policies while citizens voluntarily migrate from the US? That’s a lot of border crossings heading the same way. Out.
Unimaginable things may happen as unintended consequences reveal themselves, which is a reason to look for and be aware of solutions that are intriguing and creative.
