Let me check my notes. Handwriting is over-rated, or at least my scribbles scribbled during some animated conversations are hard to read. Fortunately, this is a podcast and you can hear the same things we heard.
This episode reached back to refer to episode 8 and a idea we talked about for using old service stations. But, the main topic that emerged was the confuence of personal contact, wine, innovative models, pets, the epidemic of loneliness, and increasingly difficult online security issues. Are we about to see a return to in-person meetings? Will travel return?
A couple of examples that we pulled from were a farm and cheese stand gathering place, and a gathering of film fans and professionals. There are no panaceas, but each represents a community created without government fanfare or corporate oversight. Organically grown has new meanings.
We also mentioned a few books, one from an independent and veteran author, and one from Tom (me), the sequel to Firewatcher is nearing completion.
This post is short, but the conversation was as long as ever. Hopefully, it is useful, too.
